Documents for Australia visa application

• Original passport and old passports, if any
• Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission of the visa, with a minimum of three blank pages
• Copy of the first, last page, observation page (if any) and all used and unused pages of current passport should be notarized and submitted along with the documents. If an old passport is being submitted, then copies of all used pages have to be submitted as well.
• Confirmed return air tickets
• The following forms - Form 1419 Tourist / 54 / 956 need to filled, signed and attached to the passport
  Note: For minors, parents have to sign the visa forms
• 2 recent passport-size colour photographs taken against a white background with matte-finish (size 35 mm x 45 mm and 80% face close-up)
• Covering letter mentioning the details of travel, details of the traveller, purpose of visit and duration of stay addressed to the Australia High Commission, New Delhi
• Income Tax papers showing transactions for the last 3 years
• Original bank statements reflecting transactions for the last 6 months, duly attested and signed by a bank official
• Travel itinerary with proof of hotel stay with passenger name and travel dates

If the applicant is employed:

• Salary sips for the last 6 months
• Original leave letter from employer

If the applicant is a company owner or self-employed:

• Certificate of registration of the company
• Covering letter on the company letter head and financial documents

If the applicant has a family in Australia:

• Passport & visa copies or Immigration status of the invitee
• Invitation letter
• Relationship proof

For Business Visa

• Invitation letter from host Company stating purpose of trip, business details etc;
• Covering letter from Indian company on company letterhead.

If Sponsored

• Sponsorship letter;
• Sponsor’s national ID proof like Passport, PAN card or Resident permit;
• Updated bank statement of last 6 months;
• Income tax returns of last 3 years.

If the applicant is Student:

• Original NOC letter from school / college with ID card copy

If the applicant is intending to stay more than 3 months:

• Chest X-Ray and medical certificate

If the applicant age is more than 75 years

• Medical requirements required from panel doctor after getting instruction from the embassy

Photograph Specification

• The photograph must be between 35-40mm wide and 45-50mm high.
• The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders.
• Be taken with a neutral expression and your mouth closed (not laughing or frowning).
• Show the edges of your face (hair out of face).
• The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 32 mm and 36 mm.
• The photographs must be identical and taken within the last six months.
• The photographs must be clear, well defined and taken against a plain white or light-coloured background.

• 1) who needs a visa for australia?

  All persons, other than Australian citizens require a visa or authority to enter Australia. All Indian citizens require an Australia visa.

• 2) how long will i have to wait for my australia visa to be granted?

  An Australia Visa takes about 20 working days.

• 3) how long before the start of the intended visit should i apply for an australia visa?

  Applicants are advised to apply in advance but not earlier then 90 days prior to the date of travel. The Australian High Commission recommends that you apply at least 3 weeks prior to your date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.

  Keeping the processing time in mind, apply for a Australia Visa 10-12 days before your schedules travel date. The average processing times of visa applications depend on the category of visa being applied for.

  The Australia Visa is an E-Visa i.e. it is not a Sticker visa endorsed on the passport, once decision is taken by the Australian High Commission; E-Visa will be mailed on the registered Email ID which is mentioned on the visa form.

  ETA = Electronic Travel Authority for Australian Tourist Visas.

  Indian Passport holders are not eligible for an ETA

• 8) should i purchase my airline ticket before travelling?

  It is advisable that you book flight tickets that are refundable if the bookings are made prior to the grant of a visa. Also, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection recommends that you apply for your Australia Visa well ahead of your proposed travel date and finalise your travel arrangements after the visa is issued.

• 9) do i need travel/health insurance?

  You are strongly advised to take out private health/travel insurance to cover yourself in Australia as medical treatment can be very expensive.

• 10) is there any age criterion to apply for australia visa?

  Australian visa is not bound by age or any such guidelines

• 11) when do i get a stamp in my passport?

  Your Australia Visa is electronically linked to your passport number; you will not require a stamp.
